While studying impressionism in college, Lin loved the way the European masters handled color. Her instructor cautioned never to use black in a painting, but instead to create shadows with color. In this oil painting, the pastoral setting came alive with color, even in the shade. It was fun to use purple tones as well as, dark green and blue to contrast with the sunshine behind the trees.

The “Purple Cow” became an experience of using juicy color to brightening up the darkness.

Let color brighten your day!
